Thursday 24th November

Happy thanksgiving! Today I celebrated my first ever Thanksgiving with a few of the teachers from school. Unfortunately most places that were offering a traditional thanksgiving meal in Houshayu had been booked up for weeks, so we went to a place called the Iron Horse, not far from school for dinner. The only criteria that a few of the teachers had was “as long as they have pie” so we had a not so traditional meal of cheeseburgers and then apple pie to celebrate thanksgiving and we all made a toast of what we are thankful for.

We had a really nice evening but when it came to leave the drop in temperature was unbelievable, I was glad I was wearing my new Ugg boots because it was freezing! Later found out that it had been -6 degrees Celsius so no wonder I was so cold. Apparently it get’s to -20 degrees in January so I am kind of glad that I won’t be here then!
