Today I had to go back to work which I really did not want
to do. Although I did have a bag of goodies for people who had asked for things
from England this was nice to give out. It was quite a busy day because the PE
teacher was absent so I had to take his lesson for grade 4. I was wearing flip
flops, which isn’t allowed but it was so warm I decided to wear them anyway.
Big mistake! We were playing football and I went to kick the ball and my flip
flop flew off! Another time I went to get the ball and got tackled by a student
and I kicked him instead! The student was fine but I really hurt my toe and was
trying not to cry in front of the kids, which would have been embarrassing! I spent
the rest of the day limping a bit because it hurt to put any weight on my toe!
After school I went home to meet Matt and find out about his day, he had been to Jingshan Park which is the hill across from the Forbidden City where you can get some really good views and he had wandered around that area. I booked a taxi for 5.30pm to take us to a restaurant called the Orchard, which is about 30 minutes away. The Orchard is an organic restaurant set next to it’s own lake with an orchard surrounding it and they grow their own vegetables and herbs. The food was really good but it is also quite expensive for China. We wandered the grounds which were really pretty and then got a taxi back to my apartment. It was an early night today because i have an extremely early start tomorrow!
