Happy Mid Autumn Festival!
Today is the mid Autumn Festival here in China (hooray, a National Holiday!) it is sort of like a harvest but also known as the moon festival, a day where people eat moon cakes while looking at the moon (I did ask why, no one seems to know, or they don’t know how to say it in English) Sam bought me a moon cake but I havn’t tried it yet (it looks a bit like a pork pie so I don’t really know what to expect).
Today Sonya, Sam and I took the subway into the centre of Beijing for a wander round, we had lunch at a traditional family run Chinese (I want to say restaurant, but it was a small room with a few tables and chairs in, and a tank in the corner full of frogs, fish and other creatures) the food was ok but not particularly nice and i’m not sure what the meat actually was (I don’t think I want to know either) we wandered around for a while and then I got the subway back home (first time all on my own, quite proud of myself) and Sam and Sonya went to the train station to catch their train back to Zhengzhou. It’s been a long weekend so I am off to bed to catch up on some much needed sleep!
